Cold Laser Therapy in Northern Beaches
Cold laser therapy can be a powerful adjunct to your overall natural healthcare approach. Also called low level light therapy, it uses a narrow frequency of red and near-infrared light that is pulsed so it doesn’t produce heat.
How It Works
The pulsed red light is directed into any area of pain or compromised mobility. It moves through the skin, where it is absorbed by the damaged tissues below. The light reacts with the mitochondria of the cells, stimulating the production of energy, which in turn activates the body’s own healing response. The result is increased blood flow to the area, which brings improved oxygenation (oxygen is needed for healing and repair) along with other healing nutrients, while toxins are carried away.
What It Addresses
Laser therapy can often be beneficial for both acute and chronic connective tissue injuries. It’s most helpful in addressing inflammatory conditions that result in pain, stiffness and swelling. Some of the common issues we use it for include:
- Acute low back pain
- Knee or other joint swelling
- Bursitis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tennis/golfer’s elbow
- Tendinitis
What to Expect
For best results, we recommend a series of 5-10 sessions (depending on how long the condition has persisted) a few days apart. Then we’ll repeat the cycle after a few weeks to ensure maximum healing.
